About Optimized Ink
I’m Natasha, the SEO consultant and copywriter behind Optimized Ink.
I didn’t come to this work through a traditional marketing path. I spent over a decade working in software and web development, including as a software architect, before moving further into SEO and website content.
These days, I use many of the same skills differently: research the problem, trace what’s causing it, and figure out what needs to change.
I’m based in Saskatoon and work remotely with businesses and non-profits across Canada.
I know my way around the technical side
My software background means I’m comfortable looking beyond what appears on the page.
If something isn’t behaving properly, I can check the developer console for errors, inspect the code the browser is actually rendering, review custom code, and follow a problem far enough to understand where it’s coming from.
That matters in SEO because the issue isn’t always the content.
A page can be well written and still have problems with indexing, redirects, structured data, internal links, scripts, site configuration, or rendering. Sometimes a styling problem or strange site behaviour can be traced back to a small piece of custom code.
I also hold a certificate in Computer Systems Technology, although most of what I know about troubleshooting websites comes from years of actually doing it.
I’m not a developer for hire, but I can handle some technical changes myself. When something needs a developer, I can usually give them something more useful than “the SEO tool says this is broken.”
I don’t treat an SEO tool score as a diagnosis
I have a Master’s degree in Sociology, including graduate-level coursework in research methods and statistics.
That background taught me to work carefully with evidence. Where did the information come from? What does it actually show? Is there enough evidence to support the conclusion?
Plenty of automated tools can generate keyword lists, traffic graphs, site scores, and hundreds of recommended fixes. They’re useful. They can also create a lot of noise.
Most importantly, they aren’t human and don’t understand the context of your business and what you’re trying to achieve.
I use the data, but I strive to understand the business behind it first, before deciding what deserves attention.
And then there are the words
I’ve written hundreds of published web pages across a wide range of industries and subject areas.
Some involve technical or specialized information that needs to be made clearer without being watered down. Others start with a business that knows exactly what it does but has a website that no longer explains it very well.
Good website copy takes research too.
I need to understand the subject, the audience, what they’re likely looking for and what the page needs to accomplish. Search research helps shape that work, but the finished page still needs to sound like the organization it belongs to.
You work directly with me
Optimized Ink is a one-person business.
I do the research, analysis, planning and writing myself, so there isn’t an account manager passing information between you and the person doing the work.
I’m also used to working with other people involved in website development and understand the work that happens behind the scenes. If you already have a designer, developer or marketing team, I can work alongside them and stay in my lane when their expertise is the better fit.
Start with the website you have
You don’t need to know whether you need an SEO audit, a rewrite, a technical fix or something else before you get in touch.
Send me the website and tell me what’s going on. We can figure out where to start from there.
